Minako, meaning ‘beauty’, will be transformed into an oasis of calm at the top of one of central London’s tallest hotels, offering stunning views along the river up to the city.
Muted colours and an inspirational new Asian fusion menu from new Head Chef Tian Teen Low will delight residents and city diners alike when it opens this week. Tian is a skilled chef and his CV boasts an impressive list of experience at top global restaurants including London’s Cocoon. He has also cooked for Gordon Ramsay in his 24-year culinary career.
Thanks to Tian’s extensive skills when it comes to Asian cooking, the new menu at Minako will carry delights such as Dim Sum, Siew Mai (meat dumplings) and Asian yellow noodles.
Minako at the Met also offers a beautiful new bar so that guests can soak up the view whilst relaxing with a drink. The new cocktail menu will be a dizzy mix of Martini and Champagne cocktails; the signature cocktail is a Thai Bellini comprising of lychee puree, peach puree, fresh lemongrass all topped with Marquis de la Tour Brut. The bar will also stock a fantastic array of wines including an Italian Gewurtztraminer from the Friuli region of Italy, which is produced in small quantities from the Lageder family and which represents one of the best new wines in Italy.

On the 25th of May 2010 the Hilton London Metropole received and accommodated the 3 legendary World Cup stars Eusebio da Silva, Carlos Alberto and Aron Winter.
During their stay, they met with Mr Avner On, General Manager of the hotel, who thanked them for choosing the Hilton London Metropole for their stay.
The three football legends attended the “Heroes of the World Cup” charity dinner at the Arsenal Emirates Stadium, hosted by the PFA (Professional Footballer Association).

We are delighted to announce that we have introduced a new room type, the Superior rooms, following an extensive £1.8m refurbishment in the hotel’s West Wing. With their contemporary design in vibrant and fresh colours and floor-to-ceiling windows, these bright and airy rooms offer superior comfort on 30m²-34m².
All Superior rooms have large Hilton Serenity beds (2 Queen beds or 1 King bed), featuring leading mattress technology for a better nights sleep. The separate flexible working area and the relaxation corner with chaise lounge and sofa table enable our guests to be at their best whether they are here for business or leisure.
To accommodate families we offer Family Superior rooms with 2 Queen beds plus a sofa bed. With two 32-inch LCD TV’s this room is ideal for families as parents can watch news or on-demand movies whilst kids watch their favourite shows. We have also increased the amount of interconnecting rooms in this category for your family’s comfort and security.
The features in these rooms have been selected with particular attention to detail, therefore all rooms are equipped with the most modern furniture and facilities, a 32-inch LCD Flat Panel TV, new air conditioning, high speed internet access, in-room movie channels and new hair dryers, kettles and safes.

The Perfect Conference Code Cracked

Hilton London Metropole has cracked the code to the perfect conference with a specially devised formula that will enable event organisers to help maximise the success of their future events.
The formula, available on request from the hotel’s conference and events team, shows the chance of having a successful conference as a percentage score, ranging from 0.1 to 100 percent.
Avner On, General Manager at the Hilton London Metropole, said: "While guests can always be confident of a great event at the hotel, our experienced team is constantly looking for ways to further help plan the perfect conference. This special formula provides an advanced calculation of success based on some key factors, enabling any potential issues to be flagged early and ensure a seamless conference."
Hilton London Metropole gets a £1.8 million facelift

We are continuously improving our facilities and services. The newest project in the hotel's ongoing refurbishment plan is a £1.8 m investment in our Deluxe Plus bedrooms, located in the hotel's West Wing. Starting on Monday 8th March 2010, 111 out of 340 Hilton Deluxe Plus Rooms as well as lift lobbies and corridors on 3 floors will be fully refurbished, giving London's largest "Double Double" rooms a fresh and modern finish.

We are delighted to welcome Elaine Birkley as Hilton London Metropole’s new Conference & Events Sales Director. Elaine brings to us a wealth of experience of over 19 years in the international and domestic meetings arena and contributes positively to our team with her excellent management skills.
She is joining us from Park Plaza Hotels, where she was most recently responsible for Business Development for the MICE segment in the National Sales Team. Before her career with Park Plaza Elaine worked within the Conference & Events field for Novotel London Euston (formerly the Bernard Shaw Park Plaza), for Selsdon Park Hotel & Golf Course in Croydon, Surrey, and for Nutfield Priory Hotel in Redhill, Surrey.

The readers of Business Travel Magazine demonstrated their trust in our brand by voting Hilton the "Best Business Hotel Chain in Europe 2009" and "Best Business Hotel Chain in the UK 2009" at the awards ceremony at London Hilton on Park Lane in September 2009.
The Hilton London Metropole has also contributed towards the UK division of Hilton Worldwide becoming the first hotel company to be awarded the Carbon Trust Standard. This recognises Hilton’s continued commitment to reduce our carbon footprint in the UK by 15% in the last four years. This award is one of the initial key measurements for the CRC (Carbon Reduction Commitment) scheme coming into effect in the UK in April 2010.

Taste of London: Liam Tomlin & Shaun Hill at Hilton London Metropole

For the Taste of London festival Hilton London Metropole hosted the celebrity chefs Liam Tomlin and Shaun Hill, together with other members of the British Airways Taste Team. The chefs met with Avner On (General Manager) and Nigel Frost (Executive Chef) for breakfast in the hotel’s Fiamma Restaurant & Sports Bar. During the festival they presented dishes for British Airways, focusing on good quality and seasonal food from local sources.

As every year, the team at Hilton London Metropole participated in the Hilton Foundation event "Around the World in a Day". We completed hundreds of "Miles4Fun" by running, walking and even pub crawling for 2 hours on a Sunday afternoon. With fundraising activities before and during the event we raised £1,280 for Paddington Academy, a local school, so they will be able to buy books for their new library. At the Heroes Reception after all the sportive activities the exhausted but happy participants enjoyed great entertainment by the young singing talents from Paddington Academy.
A new boutique experience at the Hilton London Metropole

Within the scope of a £200k investment the lift lobby and corridor in front of our Executive Lounge has been completely refurbished between 16th May and 1st June. The new lighting, walls, and carpet, designed by Schneider Designers for Hilton London Metropole, enrich the hotel with a truly boutique experience, leading to an enhanced Executive Lounge product.
The Executive Lounge itself has been refreshed and upgraded: As well as new lighting and air conditioning, dramatic scenes of London printed in smooth sepia toning now decorate walls and pillars. To make your stay with us as enjoyable as possible, we have enhanced our Food & Beverage offerings in the Lounge by providing a greater variety.
Rugby legends fundraising success

Legends from the rugby world attended the charity dinner held in aid of the Willow Foundation and Hilton in the Community Foundation last November which raised a fantastic £96,625 in total.
Bob Wilson, the former Arsenal and Scotland goalkeeper and founder of the Willow Foundation, came to the hotel for a drinks reception to accept a cheque for £15,813. This represented half the money raised at a charity dinner at the hotel last November. The other half will be donated by Hilton in the Community Foundation as grants to a host of charities supporting disadvantaged young people nationwide. Media Release

IBM/Manpower raise money for children

A great event was enjoyed by all at the IBM/Manpower Secretaries event in February 2009 here at the Hilton London Metropole. After a networking session the event involved Salsa lessons and a fun raffle full of exciting prizes. We would like to thank IBM/Manpower for their contribution to the Hilton in the Community Foundation on the night, raising £320 for disadvantaged children!
