We are delighted to welcome Elaine Birkley as Hilton London Metropole’s new Conference & Events Sales Director. Elaine brings to us a wealth of experience of over 19 years in the international and domestic meetings arena and contributes positively to our team with her excellent management skills.
She is joining us from Park Plaza Hotels, where she was most recently responsible for Business Development for the MICE segment in the National Sales Team. Before her career with Park Plaza Elaine worked within the Conference & Events field for Novotel London Euston (formerly the Bernard Shaw Park Plaza), for Selsdon Park Hotel & Golf Course in Croydon, Surrey, and for Nutfield Priory Hotel in Redhill, Surrey.

The readers of Business Travel Magazine demonstrated their trust in our brand by voting Hilton the "Best Business Hotel Chain in Europe 2009" and "Best Business Hotel Chain in the UK 2009" at the awards ceremony at London Hilton on Park Lane in September 2009.
The Hilton London Metropole has also contributed towards the UK division of Hilton Worldwide becoming the first hotel company to be awarded the Carbon Trust Standard. This recognises Hilton’s continued commitment to reduce our carbon footprint in the UK by 15% in the last four years. This award is one of the initial key measurements for the CRC (Carbon Reduction Commitment) scheme coming into effect in the UK in April 2010.

On Friday 13th November 2009 the Hilton London Metropole will be hosting a "Bollywood" night to raise funds for the Hilton in the Community foundation. The event is open to the general public and everyone is cordially invited to join the party in our amazing Kings Suite. Enjoy a complimentary welcome drink, a delicious 3-course buffet dinner supplied by Saffron O'dor and live performances by Indian drum players and dancers! Get a fun workout in our master class to learn a few “Bollywood moves” or treat yourself to a complimentary henna tattoo by our professional henna painter. There will also be stunning raffle prizes, a prize for the best dressed person and much, much more.

Taste of London: Liam Tomlin & Shaun Hill at Hilton London Metropole

For the Taste of London festival Hilton London Metropole hosted the celebrity chefs Liam Tomlin and Shaun Hill, together with other members of the British Airways Taste Team. The chefs met with Avner On (General Manager) and Nigel Frost (Executive Chef) for breakfast in the hotel’s Fiamma Restaurant & Sports Bar. During the festival they presented dishes for British Airways, focusing on good quality and seasonal food from local sources.

As every year, the team at Hilton London Metropole participated in the Hilton Foundation event "Around the World in a Day". We completed hundreds of "Miles4Fun" by running, walking and even pub crawling for 2 hours on a Sunday afternoon. With fundraising activities before and during the event we raised £1,280 for Paddington Academy, a local school, so they will be able to buy books for their new library. At the Heroes Reception after all the sportive activities the exhausted but happy participants enjoyed great entertainment by the young singing talents from Paddington Academy.

Within the scope of a £200k investment the lift lobby and corridor in front of our Executive Lounge has been completely refurbished between 16th May and 1st June. The new lighting, walls, and carpet, designed by Schneider Designers for Hilton London Metropole, enrich the hotel with a truly boutique experience, leading to an enhanced Executive Lounge product.
The Executive Lounge itself has been refreshed and upgraded: As well as new lighting and air conditioning, dramatic scenes of London printed in smooth sepia toning now decorate walls and pillars. To make your stay with us as enjoyable as possible, we have enhanced our Food & Beverage offerings in the Lounge by providing a greater variety. Rugby legends fundraising success

Legends from the rugby world attended the charity dinner held in aid of the Willow Foundation and Hilton in the Community Foundation last November which raised a fantastic £96,625 in total.
Bob Wilson, the former Arsenal and Scotland goalkeeper and founder of the Willow Foundation, came to the hotel for a drinks reception to accept a cheque for £15,813. This represented half the money raised at a charity dinner at the hotel last November. The other half will be donated by Hilton in the Community Foundation as grants to a host of charities supporting disadvantaged young people nationwide. Media Release

IBM/Manpower raise money for children

A great event was enjoyed by all at the IBM/Manpower Secretaries event in February 2009 here at the Hilton London Metropole. After a networking session the event involved Salsa lessons and a fun raffle full of exciting prizes. We would like to thank IBM/Manpower for their contribution to the Hilton in the Community Foundation on the night, raising £320 for disadvantaged children!
